With over 100 years of innovation in sustainable infrastructure and our expertise in engineering, procurement, consulting and construction, together we are building a world of difference.The Opportunity As the Data Center Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to:Manage all aspects of medium to large date center development and detailed design projects, including risk & opportunity, budget, schedule, and quality management.Be responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of project scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction.Provide for the successful staffing of the project.Manage and lead small and medium sized teams of multi-discipline professionals.Coordinate and integrate the activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup elements of the project team, including the activities of all third party companies contributing to the initiative.The Team Black & Veatch's Technology, Commercial & Industrial is a specialized group of capabilities focused on the latest needs for clients in a fast-growth technology-led arena of advanced manufacturing, and generative Al computing including gigafactories, bio/ag tech, data centers and distributed infrastructure. As a project manager on our Data Center team you will be working with some of the industry's most knowledgeable engineering and development teams who specialize in data center site development and detailed design for tomorrow's data centers including direct to chip liquid cooling and immersion cooling technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Complexity - Manages medium to large engineering projects involving multiple clients or partners, or small EPC projects with minimal risk. Proven experience delivering projects through all phases of the engagement – analyses, design, build, commissioning, and operations.Project Execution - Uses Black & Veatch project management phases and methodology including, project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closeout to direct work, manages changes and risk on scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety based on available resources and client requirements.Client Management - Responsible for maintaining and nurturing relationships with assigned clients and identifying key client interests and drivers on projects and pursuits and communicate with team members. Obtains new/repeat business on medium to large size projects.Business Development - Support and develop project estimates and proposals including scope, cost and schedule according to client requirements and bid process. Support and develop proposal preparation, client presentations and contract negotiations with clients.Risk to Black & Veatch - Manages risk which may include time and material, fixed price, new technology, non domestic markets or new clients. Works with engineering team to identify and resolve problems or issues related to design, schedule, change management and quality.Management Responsibilities Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.Preferred Qualifications5+ years of relevant experience in the data center industryPrefer four-year bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldContract negotiation skill including knowledge of terms, risks, pricing and payment termsTeam development, mentors and coaches professionals, delegates project work, practices behaviors supporting diversity and inclusion, and collaboration to achieve resultsCommunicates clear expectations, goals, and visionData Center Design Building, GMP, Lump Sum experience desiredMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
