Job DescriptionJob Description
EXXCEL is growing and looking for Project Engineers to join our team! Our Project Engineers provide support to the project team to ensure quality and timely execution of assigned projects from design through closeout. Functions include: scheduling assistance, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, management of the submittal requirements and approval, construction quality oversight, assistance with project closeout. May also include a specific technical expertise such as, but not limited to, surveying, cut/fill analysis, quality assurance, safety assessment, compliance, etc.
Project engineers must demonstrate knowledge in disciplined engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, personnel management, and project procurement processes.
Skills
Knowledge of construction principles/practices required
Ability to develop CPM schedule
Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Must have the ability to perform and be proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations
Must have knowledge and ability necessary to perform layout and surveying
Some knowledge or experience with Value Engineering
Knowledge or experience with construction schedules and safety
Procore knowledge
Must have knowledge of basic computer systems and software
Education
Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Mechanical Engineering Technology. In some cases, EXXCEL will train individuals without an engineering education to perform the job. Construction experience and surveying ability is highly valued. Prefer up-to-date CPR/AED certificate and 30-hour OSHA training.
Experience
In addition to formal education, personnel shall demonstrate 3 years’ previous work experience in the field and skills in written and verbal communication. Successful internships or Project Engineering experience on projects of at least $5 million (Design/Build preferred) is a plus. Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work is a plus.
