We are seeking a Computer System Engineer for an incredible Direct Hire opportunity with a Fortune 500 Client in Atlanta, GA. This is a hybrid position requiring 1-2 days on-site in Atlanta, GA
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in designing, supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administering both physical and virtual systems. This role requires proficiency in installing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining Redhat Linux systems, along with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based systems and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Server Management: Engineering, installing, and maintaining server hardware, hypervisors, and system software while adhering to compliance and security standards.
Linux Systems: Engineering, installing, and maintaining Redhat Linux servers in clustered/high availability configurations.
Life-cycle Management: Managing the full life-cycle for servers and system software, including deployments, migrations, and disaster recovery scenarios.
Technical Support: Providing second-level technical support to team members, customers, and other stakeholders.
Performance Tuning: Performance tuning of Unix and Linux-based server deployments.
Security and Compliance: Installing security patches, functional patches, and version upgrades; understanding and applying security policies and regulatory requirements.
Communication: Effectively communicating progress, problems, and best practices to management and team members.
Core Business Knowledge: General knowledge of the company's core business and demonstrating company values such as Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance, and Total Commitment.
Job Requirements:
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in designing, supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administering physical and virtual systems.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Redhat Linux systems, backup system technologies like NetBackup, and Storage Area Network administration.
Networking: Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing traffic flows, firewall connectivity, and ports/services using networking tools. Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls is preferred.
Compliance: Ability to operate within a Sarbanes-Oxley regulatory environment, adhering to compliance standards.
Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in managing regulatory environments and documenting compliance.
Self-Initiative: High level of demonstrated self-initiative and ability to learn independently.
Background Checks: Must meet the requirements of the company's Insider Threat Program, including required background checks.
Education and Experience:
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS) or Management Information Systems (MIS).
Experience: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant technical and organizational support experience, with an increase in minimum experience by 4 years if a degree is not held.
Certifications: Technology, networking, security, and/or compliance certifications are highly desired.
