Construction Inspector

Job Description

Municipal Construction Inspector We are seeking an experienced Municipal Construction Inspector to support public sector projects. This role involves performing field inspections, reviewing project documentation, and ensuring construction activities comply with design specifications, codes, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working on municipal or public works projects.

Key Responsibilities Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.

Review blueprints, schematics, and contracts to understand scope and technical requirements.

Perform quality assurance checks on construction materials and workmanship.

Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting progress, compliance, and any deficiencies.

Monitor project schedules to ensure work is progressing on time and according to standards.

Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues or discrepancies.

Provide recommendations for corrective actions when non-compliance is identified.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and correspondence.

Qualifications 2–5 years of related experience in municipal or public sector construction inspection.

NICET Level II Certification in Highway Construction preferred (higher certifications or additional specialties in utilities, water/wastewater, or building construction are a plus).

Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and quality control processes.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Familiarity with pipeline or utility construction standards is a plus.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
