Academic Division Chief, Abdominal Imaging, MGH and BWH

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), major teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School, are seeking an Academic Division Chief to lead academic abdominal imaging across both hospitals. These world renowned academic medical centers are the central pillars of the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Health Care System that undergoing a health care transformation to provide coordinated world class clinical care. The MGB Academic Abdominal Imaging Division Chief will oversee all imaging at both academic centers and their outpatient imaging centers and is responsible for developing a broad vision for integrated clinical operations, education, and research programs in abdominal imaging.
Comprehensive abdominal imaging services are offered at MGH and BWH main campuses, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and several outpatient imaging centers, including several in underserved locations within Boston and surrounding areas. MGH and BWH provide state-of-the-art imaging equipment, including US, state-of-the-art MR (including two 7.0T magnets), CT (including multiple existing or planned photon-counting CT scanners), PET/CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. The MGB Academic Abdominal Imaging Division Chief will oversee cross-sectional interventional radiology procedures at BWH, which includes tissue biopsies, catheter drainages, and tumor ablations which often take place in an advanced IR/OR suite that houses interventional MRI and PET/CT scanners. The MGB Academic Abdominal Imaging Division Chief will also collaboration with the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Chief to oversee the abdominal PET/MRI service at MGH. The department provides home workstations for faculty for work-from-home opportunities and offers hybrid onsite/remote schedules. The diverse abdominal imaging team includes faculty, trainees, technologists, nurses, and administrative staff in a highly collegial working environment.
Reporting directly to the MGH and BWH Deputy Chairs of Radiology and the MGB Chief of Radiology Enterprise, the MGB Academic Chief of Abdominal Imaging will be responsible for academic mentorship and faculty development of the radiologists in both academic institutions. In conjunction with the MGH and BWH Abdominal Imaging Section Chiefs, the Division Chief will conduct Harvard Medical School faculty Annual Career Conferences and other performance evaluations. The Division Chief will also supervise the MGH and BWH Section Chiefs of Abdominal Imaging and work collaboratively with them to optimize clinical operations, maintain excellence in quality and patient experience, strategically plan future improvements in workflows and efficiency, and provide administrative leadership. Both MGH and BWH sections are integral members of multidisciplinary clinical collaborations involving MGB Medicine, Surgery, Pathology and Oncology. The position also includes oversight and supervision of the educational programs in abdominal radiology at MGH, BWH and affiliated sites, including teaching of medical students and training radiology residents and abdominal-imaging fellows. In addition, the Division Chief will oversee an active multidisciplinary research program with strong relationships with biotechnology, industry and the broad scientific community within Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, providing ample opportunities for innovative research and teaching. Candidates should be radiology board-certified, and fellowship trained in abdominal imaging, with a record of clinical and academic achievement as well as managerial experience. Academic rank is anticipated to be at Associate Professor level at Harvard Medical School.
