Terminal Scale Operator Job description:
The position serves as the first point of contact for customers picking up bulk salt and aggregates at the facility and dispatching salt deliveries
Duties and responsibilities:
Weighing and ticketing trucks as they pass over truck scales using a computerized scale program
Check loads, collect payments, and customer job information
Answer telephone calls in a professional manner
Communicate with trucks and loaders using a CB radio.
Supplies general upkeep of the Scale House
Completes all administrative tasks including regular filing and completes required reports
Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention
Prompt attendance from the required start time of 6:00 am/5:00 pm
Works overtime and weekends as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned, including data entry and minor customer service responsibilities
Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
Ability to read, write and do mathematics. Must be initiative-taking.
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence
Bilingual English and Spanish helpful
Required Qualifications:
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without a Visa sponsorship
Must be 18 years or older
Must be able to work in a cold/hot environment
Detail-oriented and accurate
Additional Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Pleasant telephone manner
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working around with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, arrant chemicals, heavy equipment, extreme heights, or abusive or hostile clientele and patients. Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and sound is normal. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
