About the Agency:

EmpathyHQ is a 501(c)(3) public Nonprofit Corporation in the State of Texas that specializes in outpatient mental health counseling; EmpathyHQ is the rebranding from our previous name, Alliance Child & Family Solutions. The desire to rebrand is to be more inclusive of the individuals, couples, families, and communities we serve across all of Texas. Though our name and logo have changed, our Mission and Vision are clearer than ever.

OUR MISSION : To provide life-changing mental health services to Texans with a focus on vulnerable populations

OUR VISION : A resilient community with access to resources to live a healthy and authentic life

EmpathyHQ, navigating your path to living a healthy and authentic life. We strive to do this by providing services to all ages at multiple locations with a variety of therapists, techniques, and skills. We provide in-person services in the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth area and serve all of Texas with our robust telehealth care.

About the Position:

We are so happy you are considering us for this exciting time in your education and career! We serve all ages and backgrounds with a wide range of client needs. This is an unpaid, internship/practicum position in our Professional Integrated Experience ("PIE") Department, providing direct clinical services for graduate students on the LPC, LMFT, or LCSW/Mental Health tracks .  Our agency strives to provide a full range of experiences for the students that work with us, as well as offer free, asynchronous training in a variety of topics, such as Gottman Levels 1&2, DBT, EMDR, Grief, Telehealth with play, and many more! The PIE Department at EmpathyHQ aims to produce highly trained, confident, and experienced graduate students that will continue to serve our community compassionately and skillfully. Our ultimate goal is that any graduate of our program stands out among their peers and is a competitive candidate compared to others seeking similar employment.

Requirements for Placement:

EmpathyHQ requires a two-semester minimum commitment from students. There will be a limited number of students accepted to begin in any Summer term.

Students must agree to be available and fully present on Fridays from 8 am - 10 am for Group Supervision via Teleconferencing in a HIPAA-compliant, stationary location.

Students must agree to flexible scheduling, including at least one day during daytime hours, one evening, and availability to complete both in person in the greater Tarrant County Area.  Most of your Clients will be in person based on current trends and demands.

Must have professional liability insurance. If so, please be prepared to show proof of insurance upon the start date. If not, please be aware that professional liability insurance is required to start working with clients, and you will not be able to start your direct hours without proof of valid insurance.

Before starting your internship, a criminal history check and drug screen are required. Information on completing these will be provided should an offer for internship placement be extended.

Demand for students varies each semester depending on available schedules, population demands, location, and available openings for students after others graduate. EmpathyHQ only allows ten (10) students in the program per semester. Preference will be given to those able to see a wide range of ages and populations, as well as the ability to work 1-2 evenings and/or weekends.

General Expectations & Duties:

Establish and maintain an adequate client caseload of 5-20 clients.

Stay current on clinical documentation within 24-48 hours, using the SOAP note template as directed.

Complete documentation and reporting for grant funding as required.

Conduct approved assessments such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, SCARED, Suicide Risk Assessment, etc.

Attend and participate in weekly individual and group supervision meetings.

Attend and participate in staff meetings when applicable and available.

Our application includes several open questions so we can be sure we are the right fit for one another.  Please review and complete it in full; we will discuss your application.
