Position Description
A Senior Buyer at Sundyne completes the full cycle end to end process ofprocurement from Requests for Quote to Purchase Orders Creation, OrderAcknowledgements, to Shipment tracking and delivery. The position isrequired to partner and communicate with various internal and externalstakeholders to ensure that our manufacturing operations have all materialsneeded to assemble and deliver on our promises to customers. The positionrequires the ability to research, analyze, and forecast assignedcategories/commodities based on shifts to our production mix. A senior buyerwill be expected to focus on continuous improvement and optimization ofprocurement processes. The position will have a key focus of building supplierrelationships, negotiating pricing, and ensuring timely delivery.
Senior Buyer:Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesPurchases a broad, highly mixed and/or technical category of parts,materials, equipment, and supplies, which may involve contractnegotiations, material deviation, and other complex considerations.Administers and directs orders on a timely and economical basis with the bestcombination of price, quality, and deliveryIssue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best sourceconsistent with cost, quality and delivery requirementsCoordinates with manufacturing and planning staff regarding projectedproduction schedules and purchase order status, maintaining current andaccurate open order status.Complete purchasing cycle with domestic and international suppliers bygathering quotes, creating purchase orders, following through on supplierorder acknowledgments, expediting deliveries as required and verifyingtransactionsChase and expedite any past due ordersActs as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments on assignedprojects to resolve commercial related issues as well as cost and deliverynegotiations on technical issuesProcess non-conforming material requests with internal departments and supplychain partnersMaintain MRP system accuracy, including lead-time, pricing, currentsupplier information, current purchase order data, etc.Support the purchasing team in daily tactical functions such as Re-Order Pointprocessing, Purchase Order confirmations, Supplier Late deliveries, runinventory reports and expedite processing.Conduct cost analysis and risk assessment to make informed decisions andmitigate potential supply chain disruptions.Maintain a database of Non-disclosure Agreements (NDA) with the scope andexpiration date and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance.Assist buyers with analyzing data to ensure best value is received when makingpurchase awards.Identify, evaluate, qualify and onboard new or alternative suppliers andensure quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness.Set up and lead meetings between employees, suppliers, customers andleadership when necessary.Prepare and present reports, presentations and recommendations to seniormanagement.Support in more strategic efforts such as Supplier Management Reviews and RiskMitigation Plans.Partner with Quality team to ensure suppliers are performing to our standardsand resolve any NCMsAbility to quickly handle invoicing discrepancies to ensure on time paymentsto suppliers.Daily involvement with receiving personnel to ensure all discrepant parts arereceived through in a timely manner.Participate in cross functional teams or projects to support organizationalgoals and initiatives
QualificationsBA/BS degree in Supply Chain or related field (not required, preferred)7-10 years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventorycontrol, contract negotiation, supply management, and supplier relationships.Demonstrated experience working in a high mix, low volume OEM manufacturingenvironmentKnowledge of MRP Systems required.Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing, contracts and terms with suppliersDemonstrated ability to instruct and train other employeesMust be able to handle sensitive and proprietary information confidentiallyand with discretionUnderstanding of import and export INCOTERMSProven track record of cost savings and continuous improvementAbility to travel domestically and internationally 5% of timeStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to properly prioritize urgent matters while maintaining status quoMust be collaborative and work well in a team environment.Proficient in MS Office especially Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups etc.)as well as TeamsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Strong sense of urgency to obtain results.APICS, CPIM or CSCP certification preferredCommitment to safety
