The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of California's diverse people and communities. The Financial Management Branch (FMB), within the CDPH Administration Division, is responsible for the preparation, analysis and management of the Department’s budget, maintenance of accounting records and financial data, and acts as the liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Legislative Analyst’s Office, Legislative Budget staff, and the federal government on budget and fiscal matters affecting the Department.
FMB is in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex across from the beautiful State Capitol Park and World Peace Rose Garden.

Job Description And Duties
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by independently performing the more difficult accounting duties that require an understanding of the entire accounting process. The incumbent is responsible for following the California Labor Code regarding timely distribution of all State Controller warrants issued, including master-payroll, overtime, stipend, intermittent checks, and garnishment warrants. Act as the liaison between Personnel, Accounting, Control Agencies, and all departmental employees on payroll distribution issues. This position is responsible for general accounting process for State agencies including but not limited to processing of the more complex analytical staff for the Office Revolving Fund duties of issuance and reconciliation.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (AAI) Supervisor of Operations Services Unit.

This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.

Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.
