Job Description MindPoint Group is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to support engineering, security operations, and incident response activities. Tasks are expected to be planned and executed in coordination with various government teams in mission-critical environments.
What you get to do every day:
Provide operations and maintenance support including upgrades, troubleshooting, and documentation for Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS) security infrastructure
Update, tune, and deploy IDS/IPS signatures
Support the integration of SOC hardware and software with other agency IT capabilities
Ensure compliance with agency policies and service levels
Prepare and conduct training on the cybersecurity hardware and software tools
Monitor the health of the SOC's enterprise security systems and recommend improvements
Qualifications **Applicable US Government Clearance required**
What skills are required?
Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in functional responsibility with building, configuring, and maintaining security tools and managing other related cybersecurity capabilities
Comprehensive understanding of security engineering design, maintenance, improvement, and risk management
Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills to include and creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), audit records, and architecture diagrams
Strong, effective communication skills to provide visibility into the work being performed and the ability to convey technical information to senior and non-technical audiences
Ability to configure, troubleshoot and maintain Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System (IDS/IPS) security infrastructure such as Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Cisco Secure Network Analytics (SNA)
Experience analyzing, updating, and tuning IDS/IPS signatures
Demonstrated ability to lead complex troubleshooting to include coordinating across multiple teams and working with security vendors
Ability to configure systems following OMB and DOJ security controls
Ability to support modernization and enhancement services for SOC systems and subsystems to include requirements analysis, planning, testing, and deployment of updates
What is ideal?
Cisco Certified Specialist – Network, Cisco Certified Specialist - Network Security Firepower, or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security preferred
Experience and education in other relevant security certifications such as Security+, Network+, GSEC, or CISSP preferred
Experience providing strategy, design, implementation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of typical SOC tools, including but not limited to SIEM, SOAR, UBA, IDS/IPS, EDR, NAC, firewall, content filters, cyber threat hunting tools, and ticketing systems
Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Cisco Secure Network Analytics (SNA) is highly desired
Familiarity with implementing DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks preferred
Experience working in a SOC
Location:
This is a hybrid role in Washington, DC, or Columbia, SC, with one day per week on-site required at this time.
Shift:
Typically 9-5 Monday-Friday with flexibility to shift to weekends and evenings as required.
