A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FIELD CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

As a manager, you play a crucial role in leading job sites and helping crew leaders learn and grow to better fulfill their positions. You enforce company and safety policies while at sites to ensure proper precautions are taken. Through communication with management and your team, you monitor attendance and give consistent constructive feedback on job performance. You continuously evaluate work being conducted and provide training to new and current employees as needed.

When reviewing contracts and scope of work with project coordinators, you help set job schedules and keep accurate records of all assigned jobs. Upon designing employee schedules, you guide crew leaders through the creation of weekly reports. You ensure that the crew leader emails or texts the weekly payroll report for every project you supervise. Attending weekly job site meetings with your crew leader is also one of your responsibilities, and your attendance is always consistent.

In addition, you email management any information you learn from meetings. You also send emails to get extra work approved or to report damages that have occurred on the job site. Quality control inspections are then performed under every project you supervise. You ensure that progress photos are uploaded into PlanGrid and all work is going according to schedule and expectations. Leading a successful project brings you great satisfaction, and this is why you are perfect for this position in commercial construction management!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FIELD CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

5+ years of experience in new commercial construction

Completion of 30 hours of OSHA training

Ability to read and understand plans and documents

Ability to learn new technology

Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite

Strong leadership skills

Being bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you self-motivated?
