About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Staff Back-End Engineer to play a senior role in preparing the Glassdoor Community platform to grow rapidly in the next couple years. As a Staff Back-End Engineer, you will be instrumental in the architecture, design and implementation of the back-end components required to support such an ambitious platform growth goal.
What You'll Do
Implement and maintain back-end components to support the current and future needs of the Glassdoor Community platform.
Lead the architectural design discussions and decisions for the back-end components.
Write high-quality, maintainable code in TypeScript and JavaScript
Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the existing backend infrastructure.
Work closely with the team to plan and implement scalable solutions that can handle constant userbase growth
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and implement end-to-end solutions.
Provide technical guidance and support to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
What You'll Bring
A commitment to add to our culture of DEI
You have at least 4+ years of professional experience in production applications (back-end)
You are an independent, hard-working, responsible professional comfortable working in a distributed team spread across multiple time zones
Technical expertise in technologies: NodeJS, Typescript, MongoDB, Redis, Restful API design/implementation, AWS EC2, S3, SQS, and EB
Basic skills and general understanding of: GraphQL, Agora Voice, Twilio WebRTC or any other WebRTC technology, Docker, Basic Linux server administration skills, SocketIO, Sendgrid or similar email sending technologies
Experience building micro services or migrating monolithic applications into micro services, AngularJS and SQL databases/warehouse databases (Snowflake, Redshift) is a plus
Production experience with any CI/CD tool
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary Range*: $168,000.00 - $252,000.00 ++
Glassdoor base salaries are targeted to the market 75th percentile for technical roles and the 65th percentile for non-technical roles. In other words, 65-75% of comparable organizations in our industry will pay less.
Annual Bonus Target**: 10%
Bonuses are paid in 6-month intervals, aligning with bi-annual performance reviews

Restricted Stock Units (RSU) are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, RSU grant awards are presented bi-annually to exceptional performers.
