We have 15 locations including five comprehensive full-service cancer centers and are excited to be opening our 6th in June 2024. Our multi-specialty oncology network consists of over 100 providers, including Breast Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Integrative Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Diagnostics (PET/CT), Clinical Research Trials, Genetic Counseling, Social Work, Nutrition, Support Groups and more. The Position:
We are seeking a highly experienced healthcare leader to fill our VP of Operations position in central Phoenix. The ideal candidate will have extensive operational experience in a large medical private practice, a strong work ethic, and a comprehensive understanding of healthcare operations.
The VP of Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has overall accountability for achieving and maintaining optimal practice performance in areas of assignment. The VP is responsible for the implementation and execution of practice initiatives, programs and projects including value-based agreements, contracts review, data analytics, policy and procedure development, audits, and clinic performance & efficiency. This is a heavily operational focused position.
The selected candidate will learn all aspects of our operations from the ground up. To do so they will spend time in all relevant departments at all levels to obtain a comprehensive understanding of our organization. We expect the VP to have a “roll-up the sleeves” and “get into the weeds” attitude and approach to practice challenges and leadership. Exhibits a high degree of initiative and accountability without tolerance for mediocrity. Employment history and longevity will be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the COO and the Practice President, the VP of Operations implements programs, policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal and local regulatory requirements
Under the direction of the COO and the Practice President, the VP of Operations successfully executes strategic initiatives and projects
Projects and tasks must be completed with a high degree of professionalism, accuracy and efficiency
Direct supervisory responsibility for performance improvement, practice efficiency and corrective action plans for assigned operations managers, clinics and departments
Collaborates with managers to improve departments/clinics performance
Reviews practice processes - recommends/implements approved workflow efficiencies and improvement.
Participates in physician leadership, management and other meetings as assigned. May occur outside regularly scheduled hours (i.e. weekends, evenings & early mornings)
Actively reviews and participates in the development and implementation of practice/department policies and procedures. Assures that P&P’s are practiced by staff, meet regulatory requirements, and are audited and updated regularly.
Ensures compliance and quality assurance audits are completed for assigned departments and implements improvement/corrective actions. As necessary reports findings and recommendations to COO and President.
By assignment: Lead, implement and oversee value based care agreements. Track performance, identify appropriate use of resources and recommend modifications to meet targets.
Addresses patient experience issues and executes on opportunities.
In collaboration with HR Director, Performs HR related functions as required including interviewing, training, counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Over sees Operations Managers, Managers of Assigned Departments, and assigned Clinics
Strong multi-tasking skills
Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree: Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum 15 years senior management experience in large multi-specialty private practice
Minimum 10 years private practice administrative experience
Strong Healthcare regulatory and compliance knowledge
Strong understanding of standard HR policies and guidelines
Extensive experience and knowledge of insurance company procedures and policies
General understanding of standard medical billing practices
Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to healthcare.
Travel within the state required
