Position Description

Seattle University is seeking a dynamic and skilled professional to serve as the Manager of Financial Support & Education within its University Budget Office. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, University Budget Officer, this professional will promote an environment of strong financial management through proactive education and support of financial managers and administrators. The Manager will possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with professionals with variable financial management experience and abilities.

Train and Educate Financial Managers (50%)

· Lead and interact with members of the Finance Team and other campus constituents develop and regularly update financial training materials in various formats regarding budgets, fiscal policies, financial management tools, and reporting systems.

· Provide financial management on-boarding training and support to new administrators and financial managers utilizing in-person, virtual, and/or self-guided methodologies.

· Coordinate logistical management for formal training activities including scheduling, participant registration, feedback solicitation and related implementation.

· Perform regular updates of the departments’ website including update of training offerings and tools.

· Serve as primary internal resource to financial managers seeking clarity and guidance on financial management processes and requirements.

· Collaborate with financial managers to perform regular review and update of the university’s primary budget records for workforce planning.

· Regularly review and resolve requests for budget exemptions in the university’s Procurement system.

· Provide logistical support for regular meetings of the university’s financial managers including meeting scheduling, agenda creation, minute taking, and maintenance of a shared internal communication site.

Support Decision Making and Operations (15%)

· Develop, review, and/or process budget adjustments within the university’s budget system.

· Develop, refine, reproduce, and communicate key data compilation instruments in the context of the annual budget cycle and regular financial management review process.

· Support improvement and change management processes within the Finance division and amongst operational constituents as directed.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’sdegree in education, Training & Development, Human Resources, Learning& Development, Organizational Dynamics or related field and three years ofexperience in a professional environment or an equivalent combinationof education and experience sufficient to successfully perform theessential duties of the job.

Strongorganizational skills and knowledge of financial and budget principles.

Provenability to develop training and educational outreach activities.

Abilityto communicate at various levels of complexity as appropriate concisely andeffectively in both oral and written form.

Demonstratedability to work independently while completing multiple projects and activitiesin a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Excellentinterpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Demonstratedcompetence in the use of Microsoft Office Excel, particularly pivot tables,charts, slicers, calculations, etc.

Asuccessful candidate will know how to work effectively within a universityculture and with a broad range of constituents of varying technicalability and financial acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

At leasttwo years of experience in performing similar duties in an institution ofhigher education.

Demonstratedcompetence with budget development and planning solutions such as Axiom,Adaptive Planning, Longview, Oracle, Tidemark, etc.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $75,300 - $97,500

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that representsits good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at thetime of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will bedetermined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selectedcandidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equityconsiderations, and available market information, and not based on acandidate’s gender or any other protected status.
