We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join our IT Development team to help us enhance our applications supporting the Merchant Solutions division. This role is based in Jacksonville, FL and offers a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner and enjoy working independently or within a team. You must also be confident in all aspects of software delivery on large and small projects including build/test automation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable Java applications
Implement best practices for code quality, performance, and security
Maintain and refactor existing codebase as needed
Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability
Actively participate in code reviews, maintaining high code quality and enforcing coding standards
Provide constructive feedback to other engineers to improve the overall team's work
Mentoring and Coaching
Effectively collaborates with product managers, project managers, designers, and other teams to ensure alignment and on time delivery
Continuous Learning
Continuously works on improving business domain expertise and product knowledge.
Staying updated with the latest advancements in software engineering, emerging technologies, and industry trends
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent
Relevant development experience of 2+ years in software development using Java
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Good understanding of OOP concepts, design patterns, clean code practices, data structures and algorithms
Experience with relational databases and NoSQL databases
Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture
Experience with SDLC processes and Agile practices
Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
