MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of th ree (3) years of related experience.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent must have the ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot both microcomputers and local area networks as well as various software applications. Incumbent must have the ability to install and connect network cables, cards, peripheral drivers, and external peripheral devices, as well as the knowledge of software and hardware installation. Incumbent must have effective communication skills, both oral and written, and have the ability to train diverse groups with varying levels of technical knowledge. Employees in this position must be able to read, write, and speak/communicate in English in order to receive and to provide work-related information in a timely manner to other employees, supervisors, principals, school personnel, volunteers and where appropriate, visitors and students.
JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY: This position is responsible for providing campus-wide technology support and training on a variety of microcomputer software and hardware. Incumbent will assist teachers/principal in developing appropriate computer technology curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ? Maintain and troubleshoot local area networks to include Ethernet and Local Talk networks. ? Install and maintain all workstations and file servers.
JOB DESCRIPTION ? Investigate all problems with classroom and distributed networks and provide solutions or interface with various vendors and Austin ISD repair technicians. ? Install new operation systems, network drivers and file sharing systems. ? Coordinate the installation of new computer hardware, software, and networking equipment. ? Install new software updates. ? Install network cabling, routers, and hubs to provide campus/staff with network connectivity. ? Serve as campus liaison between various Austin ISD technology staff as well as outside vendors. ? Provide information to the campus technology committee, including suggestions for curriculum development on computer technology. ? Provide technical and software training for campus staff. ? Assist teachers in the campus computer lab. ? Maintain inventory of all campus computer equipment, software, and related licenses. ? Provide an exceptional customer experience for all AISD stakeholders with intentional and professional practices that promote a culture of respect and focus on achieving equitable outcomes.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Perform other related duties as assigned; however, all employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position requires strenuous physical exertion, including lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and/or crawling in small spaces. Work is typically performed in a school setting. This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids. Regular attendance is required for this position.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS: Incumbent reports dir ctly to the principal and has no supervision responsibilities. Incumbent will have contact with teachers and other school personnel, as well as contact with other Austin ISD personnel.
