Overview
ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Construction Inspector (on-call)
VHB's growing and we're looking for qualified Senior Construction Inspectors to work on an as needed basis (great deal of flexibility on locations and work arrangements) to work on a variety of roadway, bridge and other transportation based construction projects in the New England region.
Responsibilities
Monitor construction to provide assurance that the project is being constructed in accordance with approved plans and specifications Act as the primary Liaison between Project Managers, Clients, Contractors, Subcontractors and the general public on construction projects
Review Shop drawings to document conformance with the contract documents.
Review of pay requisitions from contractors
Review of material tests results and reports
Document construction activities in daily electronic reports
Coordinate with the Design Engineers to address Contractors questions
Prepare project punch lists and review as-built plans to document completion of work
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to grow professionally
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to think critically and solve problems
Ability to work well in team-oriented structure
MS Office Suite skills
Qualifications
5+ years required, 10+ years preferred of construction inspection experience and/or design and inspection experience
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of DOT Highway Construction Specifications
Demonstrated record of success working on public and private sector projects
Valid driver's license plus a reliable vehicle
Professional Licensure preferred
