Personnel Security Specialist (0080 GS-7) Personnel Security Specialists determine the suitability and security eligibility of individuals entering or already working in sensitive and non-sensitive positions. Specialists make security clearance determinations for employees or other persons for access to sensitive information, resources, material, or work sites. The incumbent serves as an advanced trainee. Work assignments are selected to provide training in the analytic and judgmental aspects of the work and in the appropriate use of proper methods and techniques.
This position starts at a salary of $53,105.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $69,035.00 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $122,459 (GS-12 Step 10).
Typical work responsibilities include:
Reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating submitted investigation packages to ensure compliance and adequacy of the package
Reviewing completed investigations for compliance and adequacy, requesting investigations from other federal entities, and creating and/or documenting reports of investigation, investigative materials, and database checks
Using a variety of complex information technology systems (e.g., ISMS, PIPS, e-QIP, CVS, etc.)
