Job Description Position Summary The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for leading all sales efforts for WGL Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy that drives earnings growth and develops new business opportunities within the energy industry. The VP of Sales will work closely with the SVP and other senior leaders to develop and execute a sales strategy that supports the company's overall growth goals and objectives while following corporate risk policies. You Will: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic sales strategy that aligns with the company's overall growth goals and objectives while following corporate risk policies. This includes identifying target markets, desired products, developing sales plans, setting targets, and monitoring progress using key metrics.
Working with senior leaders, identify new business opportunities and develop plans to pursue them. This includes researching new markets, new products, identifying potential clients, and creating proposals and presentations for internal review.
Lead, manage, and motivate a team of sales professionals. This includes setting annual sales targets, monitoring performance, providing training and development opportunities, and taking corrective action when necessary, in order to achieve the desired earnings results.
Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to create sales and marketing materials and execute sales campaigns. This includes working with the team to create brochures, presentations, and other materials that support the sales process.
Regularly analyze sales data and market trends to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments. This includes analyzing data on customer behavior, sales performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and industry partners. This includes building and maintaining relationships with key customers, associations, and other energy partners to ensure long-term success.
Continuously assess and improve the sales process. This includes analyzing the sales process, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to improve performance.
Develop and deploy an effective mix of sales capabilities and sales channels to maximize sales effectiveness across all sales channels including, industrial, commercial, and public sector.
Assure high levels of customer retention through effective timing and execution of contract renewal processes.
Plan and support the execution of face-to-face lead generation/customer events through a variety of channels including associations or community partners, positioning WGL Energy as an industry leader.
Attend various industry events, participating in panel discussions and speaking opportunities, positioning WGL Energy as an industry leader.
You Have: Bachelor's Degree business or marketing preferred
Master's Degree business or marketing preferred
10+ Years years of sales experience required, including 5 years of experience in an energy or energy related industry preferred
10+ Years supervisory experience with a record of increasing responsibility, preferably in marketing or sales
Experience selling renewable energy and green energy solutions preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to inspire a team.
Demonstrated success using multiple sales channels to achieve sales goals
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive management in a highly collaborative environment.
Experience partnering with marketing staff to create effective sales and marketing programs.Superior quantitative, analytical and technical skills
Proficiency with online applications such as Microsoft Office, salesforce, Docusign, Tableau or similar
Ability to travel periodically to the various locations in which WGL Energy has a sales presence.
