Felix Construction Company is seeking an Estimator to do all aspects of the bid/estimating process for the construction of water and wastewater facilities. This includes review of plans and specs, bid scope and quantity take-offs, solicitation of pricing from subcontractors or suppliers and completion of the bid/estimating effort including closeout. Our projects vary in size and scope and are located throughout the Dallas metropolitan area ($250k - $50 M). This role typically requires a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or equivalent. The ideal candidate can communicate and work well with all levels of personnel and has strong math and analytical skills.
What You'll Be Doing
Thorough and proactive review of on-line resources for project advertisements
Communicates with engineers, owners, and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, schedule requirements and documents clarifications
Completes bid scopes for projects
Estimates the entire project including structural concrete, piping systems, mechanical equipment installation, and site civil
Performs quantity take-offs for water and wastewater piping systems and mechanical equipment for industrial piping and mechanical systems
Performs quantity takeoffs for structural concrete and site civil work
Take lead on estimating CSI Divisions 4-10
Leads the internal estimate review process
Prepares final assembly of estimate
After the bid, collects and organizes all bid information for project turnover meetings and assists field operations with change order pricing
Maintains historical data
Who You Are
Senior level, at least 5 years heavy civil or industrial construction estimating experience required, water/wastewater highly desired
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Structural Engineering preferred
In depth knowledge of construction principles and processes
In depth knowledge of civil activities (excavation, concrete), steel erection and equipment installation
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of piping plan isometric and P&ID drawings required
Strong math and analytical skills
Advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Project required
Experience with estimating software such as Heavy Bid or ProEst strongly preferred
Have the legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship indefinitely
