Zelis Healthcare seeks a visionary, engaging, and results-oriented leader who wants to join a healthcare company and become part of an exciting Information Technology team. The Manager of Software Engineering will lead a global delivery team with end-to-end accountability and responsibility for developing and maintaining new and innovative products to support the continued growth of Zelis.

The Manager will exercise keen operating discipline to ensure that best in class software development practices and procedures are used to develop products including (1) adherence to robust architectural patterns that support the dimensions of scalability, reliability, extensibility, and reuse (2) application of coding standards that support the dimensions of quality, reliability and optimized Total Cost of Ownership. The supported production setting is a highly secured, high volume, 24x7 transactional environment required to operate with Six Sigma reliability. The Manager will be responsible for leading a cross functional development team consisting of Systems Analysts, Architects, Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts that deliver using Agile development methods.

This role will work cross functionally across Zelis and partner with teams within Technology and Business Operations to develop: Technology Roadmaps, Sizing Estimates and Delivery Schedules. The Manager will have deep functional expertise in delivering software solutions in a healthcare or financial services setting. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative and collaborative. He/She will have a sophisticated ability working with other leaders to align, set and deliver corporate priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partners with Business Operations to clearly understand the Business Value advocated by Product Roadmaps and develops a supporting Technology Roadmap and Strategy.

Partners with Payments Business Operations to develop an annual budget plan that delivers the Product Roadmap and associated business value.

Acts as a trusted advisor and builds and maintains relationships with other Technology leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of Technology services to meet those needs and responds with agility to changing business priorities.

Collaborates with Vendor Partners to develop and execute against a resource plan that supports an annual budget in a cost-effective manner.

Collaborates with Business Operations and cross-functional technology partners to develop informed Product Delivery Schedules that serve as commitments to all internal and external stakeholders. The activity includes understanding the critical path of a program, mitigating risk, and resolving impediments to successful delivery.

Develops and implements Best In Class system development practices/methodologies in support of architecture, coding, and quality assurance.

Leads a cross-functional development team in the timely and cost-effective delivery of Best In Class products that exceed the needs of Business Operations and have the ability to meet future requirements with minimal investment.

Maintains a dashboard of Key Performance Indicators tracking the efficacy of product delivery and the reliability of the supported production environment.

Researches and advocates innovative technology approaches that drive dramatic increases in business value, reductions in Time to Build, and Total Cost of Ownership.

Provides proactive leadership, coaching, clarity of direction and career growth development to the Payments technology staff associates. Additionally, takes ownership and accountability for Great Place to Work employee survey results and strives to develop an environment that is truly a great place to work.

Partners with Human Resources/People Operations and Technology leadership team to develop people priorities and plans, that align with technology strategies. Continually looks for innovative and meaningful solutions to the recruitment, development and retention of the technology workforce.

Leverages influencing and negotiation skills across Technology and the enterprise to achieve business goals, cost-effective and innovative shared solutions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

8+ years of application programming experience in a Microsoft environment developing applications in .NET/ SQL Server along with in-depth experience in designing and implementing Service Oriented Architecture(s).

Experience working in Agile development methods such as Scrum.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Cloud – Azure/AWS environment

CI/CD and DevOps

Experience working with offshore development teams helpful

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
