Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job summary :

Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday generally 8:30am-5:00pm; expect to routinely work some evenings and an occasional weekend day

The BHCHP Immigrant Health Committee is composed of BHCHP multidisciplinary staff who strive to improve and expand services for immigrants and Limited-English proficient (LEP) patients experiencing homelessness across the various clinical sites. You will guide, evaluate and improve immigration-informed services at BHCHP in collaboration with the Immigrant Health Committee members.

In this role, you will steer the formation of a new team at BHCHP to unify efforts addressing the specific needs of our immigrant and LEP patients experiencing homelessness. Enhanced coordination between clinical services, legal resources, case management, program development (including fundraising), quality improvement, language access/interpretation, and ongoing staff education is vital for delivering comprehensive healthcare to this patient population. This position ensures an aligned organizational approach to immigrant healthcare delivery, such that the efforts of individual staff and Committees are maximized and efficient.

As the Immigrant Health Team Director, you will balance your time with both leadership/administrative duties and providing direct clinical care within the scope of your clinical license.

Pillars of role: 1) Program management and coordination of clinical services; 2) Staff education/training; 3) Quality improvement; 4) Equity and social justice 5) Clinical services

Responsibilities : Program Management and Coordination of Clinical Services: Program innovation that improves the healthcare access and delivery to immigrant/LEP patients across sites and programs. Coordination of immigrant-specific clinical programming across sites such as the OASIS Clinic, Family Clinic, respite, and shelter-based clinics. Integration of these clinical services with immigrant-specific programming across domains such as the BHCHP Asylum Clinic, Medical-Legal Partnership for Immigrants (MLPI), Immigration Case Conferences.

Co-lead the Immigrant Health Committee and liaise with relevant Committees and Departments, included but not limited to: Equity & Social Justice Committee (ES&J); Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI); Quality and Efficiency Committee (QEC); Development (fundraising and grants); Research Institute; Human Resources

Supervise/co-supervise key staff and volunteers (AmeriCorps Member, IHC/Oasis volunteers and practicum students, interpreter services)

Ensure language access services throughout the program

With the collaboration of the IHC and the AmeriCorps member organize immigrant related celebrations such as: Latinx Heritage Month in collaboration with JEDI, International Women’s Day, Migration Is Beautiful Week, and Immigrant Heritage Month

Staff Capacity Building and Knowledge Management: Deliver monthly presentation to new employees on the IHC

Create regular staff learning opportunities via Grand rounds, 5 th Tuesday sessions, and regular, ongoing trainings and updates for case management, benefit specialists, and reception staff on immigrant-specific topics

Serve as a resource to staff needing guidance on how to best meet the needs of immigrant patients

Quality Improvement: The IHT Team Director will be an active member of the QEC Regular monitoring of quality metrics by language to ensure equity across sites, disciplines, and monitoring of interpreter utilization by dept/site

Coordination with the Institute on the Patient Experience Survey to be inclusive of immigrant patient experiences

Community Engagement in Equity and Social Justice Function as the BHCHP representative coordinating immigrant health efforts across the city/state

Qualifications : Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organized, detail-oriented and able to balance multiple ongoing projects

Highly collaborative and team-oriented

Clinical experience (i.e. Registered Nurse, Social Worker) required

Management / supervisory experience preferred

Lived experience as an immigrant strongly preferred; experience working with immigrant / LEP populations

Bilingual Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred

Minimum education: RN, MSW, LMHC or similar clinical education

Flexible and innovative, to ensure that BHCHP remains responsive to ever-changing immigration policies; able to apply an anti-racist, equity-focused, harm reduction, and decolonizing lens to the above work

Compensation and Benefits : The compensation range is $88,600 - $115,180.

BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation , health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
