Job Description
The Financial Reporting Manager will be a key member of our client's highly experienced accounting team at the firm's headquarters located in Central Dallas. Our client is focused on developing domestic upstream oil & gas assets and the firm maintains a small, collaborative working environment. With a proven track record of acquiring and managing working interest, mineral, royalty and overriding royalty properties, the company is on a significant growth trajectory with very strong returns on their investments.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required with advanced degrees in business and / or accounting preferred. CPA would be a strong plus.
5+ years upstream Oil & Gas experience, via Public Accounting and/or Industry
Strong knowledge of specialized technical accounting applicable to oil and gas upstream
SEC (public company) financial reporting and/or auditing experience a plus
Communication skills to interface effectively with management and auditors
Proficient in fund reporting, accounting technical pronouncements, research and analysis
Data management skills; ability to format, model and analyze
Ability to prioritize tasks to meet business needs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial statements (including footnotes), internal management reports, reports for bank compliance and ad hoc reports for special projects
Analysis of operating trends, liquidity, working capital and key financial ratios
Coordinate research and implementation of accounting pronouncements
Audit liaison with external auditors and primary person responsible for coordinating preparation of items required for financial statement audits (PBCs)
Technical accounting memos (accounting research, implementation of new GAAP, special and/pr non-recurring transactions)
Internal controls, update of delegation of authority ("DOA"), accounting procedures and involved in improving policies, procedures and processes
Keep accounting management team informed of pertinent activities/information
Ensure deadlines are met, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
Chart of Accounts creation, maintenance, and roll up
Responsible for certain monthly accounting entries, such as those related to hedge activity, loan activity, ARO, and depletion, impairment, lease accounting and lead for non-recurring accounting entries (corporate transactions, acquisitions, disposals, etc.)
Account reconciliations related to the corporate accounting arena
Assist management in due diligence activity of potential acquisitions and other transactions
Special accounting and analytics projects as assigned by management
Assist in and collaborate with information technology and other team members in maintenance of accounting systems as these affect accounting processes (Open Invoice, DocVue, etc. )
