Job Description:Position: Translational Research Scientist - II (Associate)Location: South San Francisco, CA 94080Duration: 12+ Months (Extendable)

Responsibilities:This is a molecular biology position in the Molecular Profiling group, performing gene expression profiling using targeted and NGS technologies to support basic research, preclinical and development activities, and translational biomarker work.This high throughput lab requires an organized, highly motivated individual who is capable of multitasking projects in a collaborative environment.

Job includes, but is not limited to:• RNA/DNA isolation from various tissues/cells from human, non-human primate, and rodents.• Targeted gene expression profiling using NanoString or other RT-qPCR systems.• Library prep and QC of samples for use with NGS platforms.• NGS sequencing Illumina MiSeq and Novaseq platforms.• Presenting relevant data and results.

Qualifications:Education: B.S/B.A/M.S/PHD in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology

Required Experience and Skills:•

B.S/B.S with minimum 5+ years’; Masters with 3+ years'; PHD with 1-2 years'

of relevant work experience in industry or academia• Knowledge in molecular biology techniques, including RNA/DNA isolation and NGS library preparation.• Experience with RNA/DNA QC platforms such as the Fragment analyzer, Agilent Bioanalyzer or Tapestation.• Experience with RT-qPCR methods and platforms.• Familiarity with NGS platforms, specifically Illumina MiSeq and Novaseq.• Must be able to work up and troubleshoot new protocol methods centric to NGS platforms.• Must have good communication skills and be comfortable working in a team environment.• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.• Must have good organization and time management skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:• Some experience with liquid automation for sample RNA/DNA isolation and NGS library prep.• Some experience with multi-omics NGS platforms, low sorted cell populations, and/or single-cell RNAseq.• Some experience with NGS analysis data visualization software such as Cell Ranger or BioTuring.• Familiarity with computer software: Illumina BaseSpace, Omicsoft, TIBCO Spotfire, Graphpad Prism, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, Geneious.

Note: This is a 2-year assignment. Lab based role at South San Francisco, CA.Hep A Titer- Titer will be done post offer when on assignment. Candidate should be comfortable.

Must haves:•

NGS library preparation.• RT-qPCR methods and platforms.• NGS analysis data visualization software.• Multi-omics NGS platforms.

Day-day:• Data analysis and data Quality check• Samples going through RNA isolation.• Using Illumina instruments• Library preparation• Performing qPCR and NGS• Work Independent• Strong molecular biology background• Manager will be supervising them for few weeks.• First 3 months are about training and checking the capabilities to become independent.• Hep A Titer- will be done post offer by MERCK when on assignment.• 20-30% data driven• 70-80% lab based
