Teaching Assistant (temporary) - Center for Multicultural Equity & Access - Georgetown University

The Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) (eorgetown.edu/about/) enhances the education of students historically denied access to Georgetown because of race, ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, and other marginalized identities. To live out this mission, CMEA provides a variety of intentional and culturally-relevant programming, services, and opportunities to foster student success inside and outside of the classroom.

Job Overview

The Teaching Assistant - in a temporary role - plays a crucial role in fostering intellectual growth, cultural understanding, and personal development among a diverse student population.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the CMEA’s Program Directors, the Teaching Assistant primarily engages with students to provide a supportive educational environment.

This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

+ Professional experience tutoring or teaching in a classroom

+ Professional or personal experience with underserved students of color

+ Professional experience with editing, copyediting, or publishing ​

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to connect with and inspire diverse groups of students.

+ A commitment to fostering inclusivity, cultural awareness, and equity in education

Preferred Qualifications

+ Strong patience

+ Teaching and organizational skills

+ Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
