Operations Manager in Research Building Management

Boston, MA, United States

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

RSMG's responsibilities have increased exponentially since its inception, both in terms of additional programs under its direction as well as a 200% growth in research space. The amount of space devoted to research at MGH grew from 431,827 nasf in FY 2000 to 1.3M nasf in FY 2016, including the addition of a number of large buildings and the addition of two research campuses.

The Department has responsibility for management and operation of a majority of MGH's major research buildings, with the goal of facilitating the paradigm of interdepartmental collaborative science, promoting cost reduction and reducing administrative demands on the MGH research community. RSMG is responsible for developing and managing an annual research building lease budget >$15M.

The Research Space Management Group (RSMG) is responsible to ECOR and the SVP for Research for monitoring all space owned or leased by MGH for the purpose of research activities; this includes research space allocation, management, and design. The department is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting all information regarding the allocation and utilization of research space.

The department is responsible for the identification of space utilization trends involving MGH research space that may indicate that space is not being used to the most efficient and highest possible use.
