Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and execute complex data and analytics projects for Sales, Marketing, and Finance, identifying key objectives, translating business problems into data problems, extracting insights and implementing impactful solutions.

Design, build, and deploy advanced ML models (e.g., demand forecasting, customer segmentation, churn prediction, pricing optimization), ensuring technical soundness, interpretability, and scalability.

Champion a data-driven culture within Sales, Marketing, and Finance, collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate insights into actionable recommendations.

Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies in AI and ML, actively seeking opportunities to implement innovative solutions within the organization.

Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative and learning environment within the team.

Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of data pipelines, infrastructure, and best practices.

Qualifications RQUIRED

Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or related role within a large organization, ideally with exposure to Sales, Marketing, and Finance verticals.

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Solid expertise in machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning) and experience applying them to real-world business problems.

Proficiency in programming languages & big data technologies like Python, R, and SQL, Hadoop, Spark.

Ability to think critically and analytically, with a keen attention to detail and a passion for solving complex problems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior members, and drive projects to successful completion.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.

Compensation & Benefits Details

An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.

The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.

You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
