The Research Scientist II, Biologics, is responsible for characterizing proteins using analytical instrumentation. This role requires the ability to work with minimal guidance to plan and execute studies, as well as perform routine maintenance on instruments and equipment. At times, Research Scientist II may conduct mammalian cell culture and protein purification.

Responsibilities
* Maintain the laboratory environment:* Perform general laboratory cleaning and organization* Manage inventory of samples and materials* Maintain equipment and instruments following established procedures
* Perform laboratory work with a focus in at least two of the following areas:* Characterize proteins using analytical instrumentation* Review analytical results and provide clear data and conclusions to clients and colleagues* Modify proteins using protein chemistry and purify the modified proteins* Perform cell culture, transfection and continuous harvesting process* Perform various scale of affinity-based protein purification* Support small to large scale cell culture media preparation work
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebooks and documents* Keep detailed lab records and perform electronic data entry using proprietary software* Compile data and maintain electronic records, batch records, and activity logs used to support/contribute to technical/development reports for technology transfer and regulatory submission* Collaborate in multi-functional teams to successfully execute projects developing biologics for clients* Demonstrate flexibility to multitask across numerous scientific disciplines
Education, experience, certification and licensures Required
* Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field* Minimum 2-4 years of experience in transient expression in mammalian cell culture, protein purification and protein analysis
OR
* Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field* Minimum 0-2 years' experience in transient expression in mammalian cell culture, protein purification and protein analysis
Preferred
* Experience in transient production in protein formulation and stability studies as well as mammalian cell culture
Pay Range: $71,400/yr. - $92,800/yr.
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
