Summary Description There is an immediate opening for an Assistant Professor position at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center Department of Psychiatry in NYC.

The Division of Behavioral Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting multi-disciplinary studies on the interplay between psychosocial factors, mitochondrial biology, and mental health trajectories. The candidate’s work will support our long-term mission to create an integrated view of human health, which will ultimately enable personalized medicine interventions and lead to new tools to monitor and foster human health across the lifespan.

The successful candidate will initially be integrated within the Mitochondrial Psychobiology Laboratory, whose aim is to understand mechanisms of mind-body interactions, with a focus on mitochondria. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate widely on existing projects that involve a dynamic group of staff and trainees at different stages of their careers and to develop and lead new translational research projects. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, NIH-funded research program broadly relevant to behavioral medicine and psychobiology.

The ideal candidate will fulfill the following criteria:

– Demonstrated productivity and ability to work collaboratively within a highly interdisciplinary research team.

– Graduate and/or postgraduate training in, but not limited to psychophysiology, neuroscience, mitochondrial biology, neuroendocrinology.

– Extensive experience with psychosocial and mental health assessments, collection of psychophysiology data and in the design of procedures for biospecimen collection and laboratory processing.

– A track record of multi-disciplinary research demonstrated by publications in areas including but not limited to psychophysiology and/or mitochondrial biology.

– Experience with multi-omics data and proficiency in statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata and SAS).

– Supervisory experience of undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Degree Required

PhD

Minimum Qualifications

At least three years of postdoctoral research experience and demonstrated ability to obtain research funding.
