Job Description

Senior Electrical Design EngineerA multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its team in Lexington, Kentucky. This is a Lead Engineering role for an experienced Professional Engineer who enjoys technical design, project leadership, client interaction, and mentoring junior engineers. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource and project leader but will not have direct reports.The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will work collaboratively with other engineering and design professionals on a variety of building and infrastructure projects while helping strengthen existing client relationships and support successful project delivery.Leadership & Client OpportunityThis position is ideal for a senior engineer who wants to remain highly involved in technical engineering and project delivery while also serving as a trusted resource for clients and junior team members. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will act as a Lead Engineer and mentor without direct-report responsibilities.Success in this position will require a combination of technical expertise, project leadership, communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the electrical engineering and design of building and infrastructure projectsDesign electrical power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, audio/visual, and related building systemsPerform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection for various voltage systemsPrepare and review electrical construction documents, specifications, drawings, and technical calculationsProvide construction administration throughout project deliveryCoordinate electrical designs with other engineering and design disciplinesServe as a senior technical resource throughout project design and constructionMentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design staffPlan project resources and maintain project schedules and budgetsPerform technical and quality-control reviewsCommunicate directly with clients, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholdersCultivate and strengthen relationships with current clients to support long-term partnerships and continued project opportunitiesUnderstand client needs and help ensure projects consistently meet technical, schedule, budget, and service expectationsParticipate in client meetings, project presentations, and other relationship-building activitiesSupport business development efforts through strong project delivery and ongoing client engagementKey QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programActive Professional Engineer (PE) registration in at least one U.S. stateAbility to obtain PE registration in additional states through reciprocity/comity as needed15+ years of relevant electrical engineering experienceSignificant experience designing facilities and providing construction administration within an engineering or design consulting environmentExperience mentoring junior engineers and team members is requiredStrong knowledge of applicable building, electrical, and fire codes and standardsExperience with electrical calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection for different voltage systemsAbility to independently lead the technical aspects of complex projectsExperience managing project schedules, resources, and budgetsStrong client-facing and relationship-management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary project teamPreferred QualificationsProficiency with AutoCADExperience with RevitExperience with electrical design and analysis softwareExperience with lighting design softwareExperience working on a variety of commercial, institutional, or infrastructure projectsPrevious client relationship management or business development experienceExperience leading complex electrical design projects from concept through constructionThe company offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:Competitive salary based on experienceSign-on bonus availableRelocation assistance may be consideredMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceDisability insurance
