This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading a team of partners to operate a profitable business by creating the best Starbucks Reserve Experience for our customers and partners. The operations manager is required to regularly exercise discretion in managing the overall experience in their zone and store. The operations manager is accountable for customer and partner experience and business performance of a store or specific zones within the store, including revenue, waste, inventory, labor spend management and operating expenses. The partner is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks mission and values.
This position also involves collaboration with market and peer management teams, supervising, directing, coaching and training the workforce, ensuring customer satisfaction, stewarding product and brand quality, managing the financial performance of zones or a store and making staffing decisions. Using your leadership experience, you will prioritize the following:
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together: Sets clear expectations, delegates and communicates key responsibilities and practices to partners within their store or zone to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results Directs and continuously improves store and zone operations to meet overall store and company objectives for operational excellence.
Plans and executes strategies to increase sales while controlling operational costs within the store or zone. Identifies trends and forecasts store or zone needs.
Collaborates with other peer management and partner teams to plan and implement initiatives to support overall store and business unit objectives.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities: Manages retail business fundamentals for their store or zone: sales trends, inventory management, customer shopping patterns and satisfaction, promotional tactics, etc.
Uses tools and resources to understand the business, make decisions and plan for and achieve operational excellence. Tools and resources include financial, operational, safety, food safety, team and customer.
Creates specific strategies and plans that align to total store and business priorities and manages a team to deliver sales goals and results.
Basic Qualifications
5-7 years of progressively experience in retail or restaurant management in a complex environment
Experience supervising others
Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to carry 35lb on a consistent basis
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience analyzing financial reports to optimize business results
Ability to manage store operations independently
Knowledge of customer service techniques
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Team-building skills
Ability to build cohesive, collaborative teams
Portfolio management experience
Experience assessing talent & developing a talent pipeline strategy
Build diverse team of high performing partners
Outstanding skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, and partner development
Organization and planning skills- ability to plan and prioritize workload
Strong operational and problem-solving skills in a customer-service environment
Highly motivated, self-directed and results-oriented, with the proven ability to solve complex problems
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
Able to identify opportunity areas and create plans for action that control costs to optimize profits and ensure success
3-5 years Restaurant/bar management experience
Education: College degree or a closely related field may substitute for a portion of the required experience
Additional languages beneficial
21+ years of age
