Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) and Department of Pediatrics

In Residence Faculty Series

The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) are recruiting physician-scientists with subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Neonatology to lead laboratory research programs aligned with the CVRI mission of understanding cardiovascular biology and disease. Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks in the In Residence faculty series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.

Successful applicants will be proposed for membership in the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology and/or Biomedical Sciences graduate programs.

The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI):

The Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) performs cutting edge research illuminating causes, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular and pulmonary biology and disease and trains clinicians and scientists to become future leaders of these fields.

The CVRI provides a home for a wide spectrum of investigation ranging from the most basic science to disease-focused through patient-based research to public policy. It links faculty interested in cardiovascular biology and disease across UCSF programs, departments and campuses and is the administrative home for UCSF's Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education. The diversity of CVRI's faculty and its collaborative culture fosters a multidisciplinary approach to research problems and provides an important bridge between UCSF's outstanding clinical and basic science departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates appointed at the Assistant Professor rank are expected to have a track record or substantial promise for obtaining extramural funding as a Principal Investigator at the K08, R01 or equivalent level.

Candidates appointed at the Associate Professor or Professor ranks are expected to hold R01 or equivalent extramural funding as a Principal Investigator.

Applicants must possess a medical degree and license, board certification in Pediatrics, and board subspecialty certification (or eligibility) in Pediatric Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, or Neonatology.

Preferred Qualifications:

A proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and departments is an important preferred qualification for this position.

This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
