Job Description
Palette Hotels Finance team seeks a Sr. Corporate Controller. We are searching for an impactful team player who can shape talent, enhance team and operational performance, and ensure business objectives are achieved and/or exceeded. The Senior Controller is responsible for achieving the highest level of accuracy in financial reporting, driving collaborative profitable results, effectively managing controls to minimize risk, and identifying and effectively communicating areas of opportunity and growth to internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Controller will work closely with the Director of Accounting on any hotel transitions to heighten checklists and execution of any property transitions. The Senior Controller will mentor and train other Controllers, lead key projects and initiatives including process development, and drive the focus on growing efficiency and accuracy of output, processes, and structure within the Corporate Finance and Accounting Team.
Requirements
The Sr. Controller will:
Possess experience and knowledge in hospitality accounting practices
Finalize & deliver hotel financials in collaboration with 3rd party accounting services, Operations and Human Resources teams
Ensure valid and effective P&L reviews with the goal of maximizing financial results, timeliness and accuracy
Work with hotel, regional, and corporate teams to generate accurate and functional forecasts, cash flows, and budgets
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of DRR and research any discrepancies as they arise
Ensure accuracy of coding for all income statement and balance sheet items with the proper back up.
Review all monthly hotel tax filings for accuracy and ensure timeliness of payments.
Analyze and research discrepancies in financials with the goal of resolving issues and putting proactive process improvements in place to increase accuracy and efficiency in the future
Reviews Controller and GM forecast accuracy and trains and supports for continued heightened results
Develop and oversee the financial side of the hotel transition process
Develop and oversee treasury management for our portfolio of 30+ hotels
Develop and oversee processes related to payment of mortgage, payroll, insurance and taxes for all hotels
Educate and empower external stakeholders on best practices and procedures
Train Controllers on financial control processes
Assist the Director of Accounting in ensuring the team meets Key Performance Indicators
Qualifications
B.A. (or higher) in Accounting or Finance
2+ years experience in hospitality industry Accounting in a Centralized environment
Experience driving process development that impacts results
Solution-oriented mindset
You will succeed in this role by:
Reducing team time spent and increasing accuracy on key processes such as hotel transitions and treasury management
Ensuring process compliance in and outside the Finance team
Ensuring that hotel financials are delivered on time
Ensuring that hotel transitions requirements are systematic and executed timely and accurately
Increasing controller knowledge of accounting practices
Increasing owner and Operations team satisfaction in their interactions with our Finance team
