We are currently seeking to add a Senior Construction Inspector to our dynamic team in Vancouver, Washington.
$49-58 hourly, full-time in field with benefits
As a Senior Transportation Construction Inspector, you will ensure projects are thoroughly inspected and in compliance with contract plans and specifications, including environmental requirements on Transportation projects. This role will help identify issues with contract plans or construction in progress and will be integral in communicating and coordinating resolutions to these issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or an associate degree and experience.
5+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector.
A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a state-issued vehicle legally and safely (pick-up truck, van, or auto) as needed.
Ability to traverse uneven surfaces, work in confined spaces, climb ladders to access incomplete structures, and lift up to 35 pounds; sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
Ability to work independently and within a team and support a positive work environment.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in construction inspection or materials testing or related field
Ability to read and interpret contract plans and specifications, including environmental permits and requirements.
Able to interpret contract plans and determine contractor compliance.
Experience with federal funding requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently perform a variety of skilled construction inspection/documentation and construction management tasks, such as:
Check calculations including elevations, grades, earthwork, etc., and use computers to resolve engineering problems;
Identify and manage construction risks.
Create field notes and compile information;
Check field notes submitted by inspectors and compile information;
Serve as the point of contract for stakeholders
Enter information into the ledger system, and check and correct entries made by others for data accuracy;
Create and check inspector's daily force account sheets, calculate equipment and wage rates;
Prepare and check monthly estimates; compile and calculate final quantities and final estimates;
Monitor and process submittals such as requests to sublet, approval of sources, and materials documentation;
Ensure materials are thoroughly tested and approved before, or during the construction process, as required.
Compile information and prepare the interim, and permanent final records;
Train and lead others in preparation of the above materials.
