Salary range for this position is from $84,890 to $119,600 depending on experience.

Design Technology Manager – The Design Technology Manager is a key part of our IT, Design, and Production operations at a design firm with 4 offices and approximately 200 employees. Responsible for elevating the use of technology by our employees in architecture, graphics, interiors, and engineering in a team-oriented environment, across four office locations. Provides strategic and tactical guidance for developing and advancing firm wide initiatives in innovation, design, visualization, and production. Collaborates with Communities of Practice and other groups to align acquisition and use of technology with strategic goals. Guides project teams in their use of best practices and technology to achieve project goals. We believe in leveraging innovating thinking to continually improve our processes and the services we deliver. The successful candidate will integrate technology and innovation into workflows. The Design Technology Manager works across other functional areas of IT to ensure regular alignment of objectives and collaborates with others in the IT department to develop and implement long-range strategic plans.

Requirements

Design Technology Solutions: Work closely with other company-wide teams, departments, and specialty groups to explore the boundaries of existing NAC technology and leverage it to its fullest potential while also exploring new technology to understand how it might contribute to NAC goals. Design, develop, deliver, test, support and maintain cost-effective design technology solutions. The successful candidate will integrate technology and innovation into our workflows.

Design Technology Standards: Manage and ensure all design technology standards, systems and libraries are documented, integrated, and maintained; manage project templates; coordinate and collaborate with companywide teams as appropriate. Ensure industry standards and best practices are incorporated as needed.

Assist Project Teams and Individuals:

Leverage technology alongside project teams to meet client and project needs.

Provide BIM planning and training for project teams to best utilize technology tools, processes, standards, and best practices.

Assist project teams in development of and compliance with approved BIM Execution and BIM Scope Plans

Support project file management best practices in Autodesk Construction Cloud, network file storage, Newforma and other platforms as required.

Assist project teams with Model Management and project delivery.

Coach, train, and support employees as needed.

BIM Advisor: Advisor for firm wide BIM projects for clients and design team members to facilitate technology solutions on specific projects as well as for broader initiatives.

Automation: Identify opportunities to automate and/or streamline processes to gain efficiency. Develop plans for implementation and training.

Continual improvement: Provide feedback and make suggestions for improvements, share knowledge and lessons learned. Research and evaluate emerging technologies.

Strategy: Identify trends and business opportunities related to design technology and design production to share with related strategic planning groups. Work with others in IT department to incorporate new hardware, software, and processes to achieve broader business objectives.

Training & documentation: Develop documentation, training and support strategies on related tools, processes, standards, and best practices. Develop new hire training programs. Work with Knowledge Manager to integrate information into existing processes and platforms and/or to improve same.

External relationships: Manage external relationships with other professionals and groups to advance NAC and the A/E/C industry in its use of technology. Look for opportunities to participate in industry organizations, conferences, and round tables, contribute to open-source projects.

Vendor relationships, software compliance and renewals: Work with Chief Information Office and Desktop Administrator to ensure compliance with EULAs and that software subscriptions are renewed, added, or cancelled as appropriate to meet business goals.

Competencies:

Expert knowledge of and proven practical background in Autodesk Revit Architecture and related Building Information Modeling Software.

Solid understanding of legacy CAD applications and practices, particularly AutoCAD

Familiarity with Design Visualization applications such as Enscape.

Familiarity with added Design Technology applications such as Rhino.

Familiarity with Computational Design applications such as Dynamo and Grasshopper, etc.

Familiarity with Graphic design applications such as Adobe suite and Affinity.

Familiarity with scripting and application development for building information modeling software, including the Revit API.

Familiarity with developing applications using visual scripting languages, including Grasshopper and Dynamo.

Experience developing and delivering training programs and presentations and a strong ability to prepare curricula and instruct/present to diverse audiences.

Experience with project strategic and tactical planning, including developing project requirements.

Experience supporting multiple offices, equaling more than 50 professional A/E/C employees

Experience with Newforma and Bluebeam software applications

Experience with COBie helpful

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional open office environment with low to moderate noise levels including collaborative work areas for team meetings. Each office provides collaborative work areas and shared resources such as video conferencing, printing/scanning and a café for dining.

Physical Demands

Hand/Wrist/Finger dexterity for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week

Ability to lift 30-50lbs and lift 50-80 lbs. with assistance.

Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Position Type/Hours expected to work

This is a full-time position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.

Travel

Travel to other offices will be required but won’t be extensive.

Required Education and Experience

Associate degree in A/E/C related field or Computer Science preferred.

A minimum of 10 years related Design Technology experience in the A/E/C industry, two years must be within an established firm wide Design Technology leadership position or equivalent.
