About the Office of Sponsored Programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The Office of Sponsored Programs provides progressive and responsive assistance in several areas of research administration, including specialized educational, informational, and technological support to research administrators and faculty. OSP provides research faculty with full-service 'cradle to grave' support and administration for research contracts and grants at Georgia Tech including the following sponsors:
All Federal Agencies
State and Local Governments
Universities
Federal Agency Pass-Through (regardless of type of pass-through entity)
Non-Profits (excluding private foundations)
Services include review and interpretation of contract and grant requirements, determination of appropriate terms and conditions, and establishment of pre-contract agreements as well as the monitoring all active contracts and grants, including modification of existing agreements.

Job Summary
This position will direct a team responsible for nondisclosure agreements, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, foundry agreements, medical transfer agreements and other miscellaneous agreements related to research support activities. Responsibilities of the Director include providing leadership, developing and implementing policies and procedures, establishing team priorities, setting employee and team goals, and assessing employee and team performance.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Georgia Tech academic and research faculty, their supporting finance and administrative personnel, deans, directors, associate deans, and school chairs; Office of the Executive Vice President for Research representatives; Office of Research Integrity Assurance; Office of Technology Licensing; Office of Legal Affairs; GTRC management and staff; sponsoring organizations and other collaborative organizations including universities, national labs, NGOs and nonprofit organizations; and oversight organizations.
This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management, faculty, and research staff.
This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time.
This position is hybrid eligible.
Required Qualifications A Master's degree, and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
A Master's degree, and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
A Doctoral degree and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Flexibility in daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules and project requirements).
Registered with the law bar in at least one state
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Juris doctorate
Preferred Experience
Ten or more years related experience including five years supervisory experience.
At least five years of experience with an institution of higher education or similar research organization.
Extensive experience negotiating contracts with intellectual property terms.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines.
Competence to establish effective working relationships to accomplish objectives, an expert in working independently, and in a team environment.
Must have a deep and broad understanding of contact law and research administration in higher education or equivalent organization.

Proactive decision making and problem-solving skills to respond to high-pressure situations. Excellent customer service skills with proven knowledge of how to work effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external customers on complex issues and problems.
KNOWLEDGE
This position will supervise: over approximately ten professionals, including Managers/Supervisors, Contracting Officers and Contract Specialists
SKILLS
Lead team responsible for timely negotiation and administration of various research support agreements, including identification and review of relevant Institute policies, and coordination with departments responsible for research compliance such as research security, IRB, IAU.
Serve as a subject matter expert on applicable research administration topics. Maintain current working knowledge of relevant federal regulations, state statutes, and Institute policy.
Set goals and determine priorities for the team and its managers.
Participate in development, implementation, assessment and maintenance of OSP policies and procedures for effective and efficient administration of research support agreements.
Participate in strategic planning and administrative assessment for OSP.
Coordination between the Exchange Agreements team and other units within the central research administration organization including other teams within OSP; the Office of Technology Licensing; and the Office of Research Integrity Assurance.
Represent OSP in Institute initiatives and in Institute and external research administration professional development activities and organizations.
