Finance Administrator

Reporting to the Executive Director, the finance administrator is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the financial records and reporting for The Skin Cancer Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This individual prepares and maintains all records, files and processes necessary to ensure the organization has a compliant and organized financial operation.

Areas of Responsibility

Maintain accounting procedures and policies of internal controls to ensure integrity of all financial information.

Be the key interface with banks and responsible for all cash requirements (ensuring sufficient funds and anticipating cash needs).

Manage all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping functions and accounting processes including but not limited to:

Daily

Accounts Payable – process and pay all invoices in a timely manner and follow up on outstanding invoices. Prepare checks for signing and distribution, as well as proper file maintenance.

Accounts Receivable – receive and deposit all organizational revenue.

Monitor cash flow and bank activity; prepare and send a daily revenue log to staff.

General ledger and chart of accounts maintenance.

Execute biweekly payroll activities using a 3rd party payroll service provider.

Monthly

Prepare monthly financial reports, and any other required reports at the request of the executive director.

Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.

In coordination with development/fundraising database manager, conduct monthly internal reconciliations between QuickBooks and DonorPerfect.

Work with the executive director and members of the senior leadership team to review budget and adjust projections, based on our progress toward reaching our fundraising goals.

Annually

Coordinate with outside CPA and auditors in preparation of year-end audit and tax statement preparation.

Support the executive director in the development and analysis of the annual budget.

Educational Background A bachelor’s degree in a related field (accounting, finance, business, or management).

Skills/Experience

Five to 10 years’ recent experience in a related role, preferably at a nonprofit organization.

Capable of communicating effectively (written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.)

Ability to prioritize projects, multitask, and propose and implement processes to improve efficiency.

Capable of working independently while also recognizing the value of teamwork.

Positive personal attributes include integrity, credibility and commitment to The Skin Cancer Foundation’s mission.

Must be “tech comfortable” with strong experience using QuickBooks and MS Office (specifically Excel).

Salary: $85,000/ annually

Subsidized membership to Association of Nonprofit Accountants & Finance Professionals

Hybrid work schedule (in midtown office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays)
