POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time role actively contributes to the planning and execution of our Wine and Food and Events Department needs, including both on and off-site special events, trade visits, and private functions. This position also serves as a primary host in our Wine and Food pairing experiences. Additionally, this position emphasizes lead generation, outreach, and event administration, ensuring continued growth in our Events and Wine and Food Departments. This position requires an outgoing and dynamic personality with a desire to take a high degree of ownership of our award-winning wine and food experiences and its promotion to potential partnerships.
EVENT, WINE & FOOD, TASTING ROOM FUNCTIONS (50%)
• Host consumer, wine club and trade groups primarily in the Wine and Food Department – 3-4 days per week or as required, maximizing wine sales and club conversion at every opportunity
• Listen to customers’ needs and wants and customize selling approach to best meet those requirements
• Host guests in the Tasting Room as scheduled by Manager as needed
• Book and host a few annual offsite local events through lead generation and client lists
• In conjunction with Assistant Tasting Room and Special Events Manager, assist in coordinating on and off-site events, including preparation of ROS, checklists, and event organization and implementation
• Ensure the event is focused on educating guests on our wines, history, and brand; events are “incidental and subordinate” to our primary use as an “ag processing facility”
• Work in conjunction with other team members to set up and break down event spaces.
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of the master calendar for trade and consumer events.
• Assist with client communication, including advising clients regarding set-up options and materials needed to achieve desired results
• Ensure that event set-up of chairs, tables, decorations, or other equipment is in accordance with client needs and winery parameters as directed by Special Events Manager
• Assist with event reporting, noting event sales, expenses, and changes needed to achieve profitability
• Lead role: Lead by example, setting high hospitality standards, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting wine and food knowledge among staff
HOTEL, WINERY, DESTINATION MANAGEMENT OUTREACH (30%)
• Develop and nurture leads for winery visitation. Build relationships with key partners (Concierge, DMC, transportation, wineries, etc.) to promote on-property experiences
• Follow up with referral sources during and post-referral to communicate appreciation
• Build and adjust your daily and weekly schedule accordingly to utilize all down-time for outreach benefiting events and tasting room/wine & food business
• Nurture and maintain member and consumer relationships for private events, including following up on or pursuing leads as provided by Leadership team
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS (20%)
• Assist customer service team in responding promptly to inquiries via our concierge inbox and by phone
• Support Reservations Coordinator in updating Kitchen Reservation List, recording guest dietary restrictions and special occasion information
• Build rapport with guests by phone, and listen to their wants and needs, asking open ended questions, and propose the appropriate experience for them, upselling experiences
• Foster a positive brand image by providing a consistent and professional-level guest experience.
• Abide by all applicable laws and process all required paperwork accurately and efficiently

• Must possess demonstrated sales acumen with history of delivering results
• Dynamic, outgoing, and engaging personality to provide exceptional and memorable guest experiences and create positive lasting memories for visitors
• A well-maintained personal appearance is a must
• The Team Member will abide by all Sequoia Grove Standards of Conduct and other requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Sequoia Grove operates as a team. This position must be willing to roll up their sleeves to do what’s necessary to delight customers and generate sales
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience/Skills
• 4+ years sales experience ranking at or near the top of their department
• Minimum of High School diploma; College preferred
• Excellent written and presentation skills
• Familiarity with Point of Sale, Reservation and E-commerce systems
• Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs (case of wine)
• Able to stand for long periods of time
