Director of Nursing

Our client is looking for a rockstar Director of Nursing for their LTC nursing team. This individual will provide leadership and direction to the Health Center nursing team members and ensure high-quality nursing care for all residents, including those in the Long-Term Care and Skilled Nursing Program, Assisted Living Program, and the Memory Support/Assisted Living Program, the following steps and strategies can be implemented:
Establish Clear Communication Channels:
Hold regular meetings with nursing staff to discuss any issues, updates, or changes.
Ensure open communication between different departments within the Health Center.
Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures:
Review and update nursing policies and procedures regularly to meet the changing needs of residents and comply with regulatory requirements.
Ensure that all nursing staff are trained and updated on these policies and procedures.
Provide Staff Training and Development:
Implement ongoing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of nursing staff.
Encourage staff members to pursue further education and professional development opportunities.
Monitor Quality of Care:
Establish quality assurance programs to monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care provided.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to nursing care.
Implement processes to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Promote Resident-Centered Care:
Encourage a resident-centered approach to care, focusing on the individual needs and preferences of each resident.
Foster a culture of respect, dignity, and compassion among nursing staff.
Collaborate with Other Departments:
Work closely with other departments, including medical staff, therapy services, and dietary services, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident care plans and goals.
Address Resident and Family Concerns:
Act as a point of contact for residents and their families, addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and effectively.
Maintain open lines of communication with residents and their families to ensure their needs are being met.
Monitor Budget and Resource Allocation:
Work with administration to develop and monitor the nursing department budget.
Ensure that resources are allocated effectively to meet the needs of residents while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Lead by Example:
Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior in all interactions.
Serve as a role model for nursing staff, exhibiting a commitment to excellence in nursing care.
By implementing these strategies, the nursing team can provide high-quality care for all residents of the Health Center while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining a resident-centered approach to care.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of skilled nursing experience within a long-term care (LTC), assisted living, or hospital environment.
Previous experience working with federal, state, and local nursing services regulations.
Practical experience analyzing and interpreting statistical reports in an interdisciplinary team environment.
Previous leadership and administrative experience in a healthcare setting, including scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
Previous experience within a Life Plan Community is preferred.
Current State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse license is required.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
