Behavioral Treatment Clinician

Janesville, WI, United States

Overview:

Under the supervision of the Supervisor and or Qualified Supervising Provider, provides direct behavioral services to patients in the autism program; monitors treatment plan implementation by observing autism techs during in-home sessions. Participates on the treatment team and carries out services as described on the treatment plan. This role includes the following duties and actively supports the mission statement of Mercyhealth Behavioral Health. May include weekends, day, evening, and or on-call hours.Must complete 40 hours of specified orientation on autism and application of techniques, and attest to 2,000 hours of documented training and supervised experience delivering a Wisconsin-approved treatment model.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides in-home and community behavioral services to patients with autism as directed in the treatment plan.

Participates as a treatment team member by attending meetings, providing feedback about patient progress, and sharing impressions of patient status.

Monitors treatment plan implementation by observing autism techs as directed.

Documents and provides feedback to autism techs and to Supervisor or Manager and Psychologist.

Coordinate communication between family, Psychologist, outside agencies, and Supervisor or Manager.

Mentor autism techs to ensure compliance with treatment plan and agency policies and procedures. Reviews physician's orders or follow-up needs with patient.

Documents observations and care provided in the medical record.

Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the Supervisor or Manager and or Qualified Supervising Provider (QSP).

Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.

Participates in initial home visits and educating families about the treatment process.

Works on treatment planning and intervention activities for specific children. Gathers data, summarizes results, and shares findings with psychologist and or Behavior Analyst

Creates treatment materials that support treatment goals and interventions.

Ensures that proper authorization is completed and documented for the services recommended.

Coordinates scheduling activities among families and autism techs.

Participates in treatment staffing and reviews when QSP evaluates child's progress.

Works with families of autistic children to help them better understand and interact with their children.

Orienting new staff as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Ensure that charges are entered correctly and on time.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree related to behavioral health or child and family services or is a student within 6 months of graduation.

Must have, and attest to 2,000 hours of documented training and supervised experience delivering a Wisconsin-approved treatment model (must have at least 1,500 hours upon hire in the Behavioral Treatment Clinician position)

Certification and Licensure

Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days

Managing Threatening Confrontations (or other supervisor-approved aggression control training) Certified within 90 days

Maintain a valid driver's license.

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

For those driving their personal vehicles:

Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested.

Special Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. Employee must be able to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, run, climb, and navigate across various terrains (tile, gravel, carpet, playground mulch, grass, steps, etc.). Must be able to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Manual dexterity to operate telephone, lock, manipulate flashcards, turn pages, and keyboard is also needed. Must be able to complete job duties in various environments with multiple distractions

Level of Supervision

Requires a high level of independent judgment. The position has the potential for substantial latitude and independent action. Directly supervises staff in designated program areas and locations, as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Supervises

This job will directly supervise technician-level staff under the direction of the program supervisor or Manager and Qualified Supervising Provider.
