JOB SUMMARY
Provides a range of entry-level intake and associated administrative services pertaining to patients being admitted to the hospital and/or treatment facility or receiving outpatient services to include obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information; collecting co-pays and deposits; scheduling follow-up appointments; and ordering diagnostic tests as directed.
WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Interviews patients to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for medical record identification and bill processing
Inputs patient registration information into computer registration system and verifies accuracy of information
Provides accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients Discusses financial arrangements and issues with patients and/or family members
Facilitates patient and information flow by directing patients to correct locations, arranging patient transport, answering incoming telephone calls, and providing clerical support
Prepares required forms orders and maintains inventory of supplies as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation
Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records
Interpersonal and customer service skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to obtain patient demographic information and verify insurance eligibility
Must enroll in PSS training program and successfully complete competency exam to maintain PSS position

Facilitate the placement of in-patient dialysis patients into the out-patient setting
Explain and enroll patients in the patient portal
Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping all patient information
Aligning patient services with field sales
Supporting the clinical care staff in the care of the patient
Act as a part of the patient care team by supporting the clinical care staff in the care of the patient
Function in a variety of patient care areas
Assisting in managing overall patient flow
Serve as liaison between patient and medical support staff
Ordering practioner and patient to coordinate service and insurance requirements
Determine preliminary patient and insurance liability
Ensure all medical documents, patient accounts and files
Demonstrate active patient advocacy to ensure all rights are identified and met for every patient
Assisting with the scheduling of patients for current research studies
Send patient registration forms to patient in advance of appointment
Participate in budget preparation/process relating to patient care services/operations
Develop and execute patient services programs and projects
Evaluate and create processes to streamline patient flow and care
Explain accounts to patients and translate registration and billing issues to patient understanding
Demonstrate team-player abilities and seamless service to patients
