Presbyterian Village North is currently hiring a CDL Part-time Bus Driver/Transportation Specialist for our Senior Living Retirement Community. Start as soon as possible and meet our amazing residents!Current CDL required. Part-time hours depends on the activities in the community and will not exceed 29 hours/week.Typical Hours:Thursday & Friday 8:00am - 2:00pmThursday Evenings 1:00pm - 9:00pm when neededSunday 9:00am - 6:00pm, occasionally laterDrive yourself straight into the lives of our residents with care, compassion and safety. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
\tHigh school graduate/GED required\tActivity certification from an approved course as required by State of Texas preferred
\tOne or more years working with the elderly in providing group activities
\tAbility to learn and assist with development of activities for senior adults
\tWorking knowledge of activities for senior adults preferred
\tCurrent Texas Commercial Drivers License for transporting passengers
\tAbility to communicate verbally and in writing in English
\tSafe driving record with Texas Department of Public Safety; no convictions: DUI, DWI, blood/breath test refusals; no serious traffic violations: speeding 15 miles over speed limit, reckless driving, fatal accident
\tAbility to read maps, use GPS, and have good knowledge of Dallas and surrounding areas
\tAbility to communicate with residents with concern and compassion
\tAbility to adjust to changing situations and priorities (additions to planned schedule, multiple interruptions, etc.) and work under stress
\tAbility to maintain vehicles in good working order through attentiveness to daily condition of vehicles; mechanical knowledge preferable
\tAbility to push residents in wheelchairs on flat and inclined surfaces, lift wheelchairs into and out of vehicles, support residents during transfer to and from vehicles, lift and carry bags
\tAbility to carry out assignments with constant safety and security of residents
\tAbility to perform Essential Duties as outlined below
\tGenuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, handicapped people and hospice Patients
\tAbility to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements as outlined below
\tAbility to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities
\tAbility to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and proceduresESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Current CDL - Commercial Drivers License is required Model a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients, visitors, and co-workers
Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
Maintain good attendance record
Assist with record keeping of resident appointment and/or office errands
Review daily schedule with supervisor and discuss any scheduling problems and/or conflicts
Drive van or bus to deliver and pick-up residents to and from appointments through the city
Complete errands as assigned by supervisor, such as bank, post office, office supplies, having keys made, hardware store, etc.
Alert appropriate personnel regarding routine maintenance schedules: oil changes, inspections, tag renewal, changing digital clocks, etc.
Wash vans and Crown Victoria monthly or more frequently as needed; take bus and van to car wash every three (3) months or as needed
Notify Director of Nursing of any problems with schedule, residents and/or vehicles
Provide other transportation services as required, i.e. employee injuries, miscellaneous deliveries
Assist with activity programs and front office support, as assigned by supervisor, when not scheduled for driving assignments (i.e. group or one-on-one activities, encouraging residents participation and attendance, receptionist, mail, Village Country Store)
Assist with purchasing departmental supplies
Other duties as assigned by Director of Residential and Community Services
