Atrium Health,one of the most comprehensive public, not-for-profit healthcare systems in the nation, is actively recruiting an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Carolinas Medical Center.
Our critical care professionals strive to provide world-class comprehensive care to critically ill or injured patients. Our expert critical care team of physicians and advanced practice providers manage patients within our specialty intensive care units:Cardiac medical ICU, Cardiac surgical ICU, Medical Intensive Care, Neurointensive ICU, and Oncology ICU. Attending Intensivists provide 24/7 supervision and teaching at our busy medical center that includes 147 adult ICU beds. NP and PA duties includedaily management and documentation of complicated critically ill medical and surgical patients. Experience with procedures including but not limited to central venous and arterial vascular access is required. Our site hosts an advanced practice provider fellowship in critical care.
Details of this practice and qualified candidate:
Work schedule -Nocturnist. 13-hour (7p-8a) night shift with rotating weekends and holidays
Service provides 24/7coverage with a shift-based model.
Inpatient- Adults- 100%
Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program.
Nurse practitioners are required to have a master's degree or doctorate in nursing practice.Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
Physician Assistantswith certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs isrequired.
Post graduate ICUfellowship or experience in an ICU setting as an APP required.
Interpersonal skills andcritical thinking must be demonstrated.
North Carolina license,North Carolina DEA, BLS and ACLS required.

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity. Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
Education, Experience and Certifications.
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.
Nurse Practitioner
Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP, PNP-AC or NNP board certification preferred according to population served.
Physician Assistant
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
