Software Engineer

Software Engineer IIIJoin Deloitte's AI & Engineering team to help transform technology platforms, accelerate innovation, and support mission-critical outcomes for our clients. In this Software Engineer III role, you will help build secure, scalable solutions that improve process engineering and automation across AI, robotic process automation, agents, and scripting tools. You will work in a delivery environment where development speed, production readiness, and security assurance must operate together from the start. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering discipline, applies secure development practices throughout the software development life cycle, and uses AI-assisted tools to improve delivery quality and efficiency.Work you'll do as a Software Engineer III on the Process Engineering and Automation team includes:Design, build, and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines that integrate automated testing and security reviewsEstablish and enforce application hardening standards across scripts, platform automations, and AI-enabled web applicationsLead security reviews for new development work and produce Authority to Operate (ATO)-ready artifacts, including System Security Plan (SSP) sections, control evidence, and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) inputsIntegrate AI-assisted development and testing tools into team workflows, document best practices, and train peers on secure development methodsMaintain development and production environments, conduct secure code reviews, monitor security events, and drive remediation while advancing a shift-left testing cultureA successful candidate would possess these skills:Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a teamEffective written and verbal communication skillsMeticulous attention to detail and quality of work productAbility to build and sustain professional relationshipsAbility to lead projects or workstreamsAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentStrong interpersonal skills and professional demeanorAbility to meet deadlinesAbility to provide clear guidance to othersQualifications required:Bachelor's degree4+ years of experience in application development, including test-driven development4+ years of experience with Python4+ years of experience across the software development life cycle (SDLC)4+ years of experience in security operations and application security practicesActive Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraphAbility to travel 10-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Maryland, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Maryland and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $119,000 to $198,400. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
