The DarkStar Group is seeking a Software Engineer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Reston, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, our benefits, and our $25,000 referral program.

THE PROGRAM

The DarkStar Group is a member of 100% of the winning teams for the largest technology program in the Intel Community. We've been supporting this customer on many different sub-projects of this program since our founding in 2013. We've grown on this effort by providing the customer with Engineers who have done exceptional work, and we've retained our staff by paying very strong salaries, and working hard to ensure each Engineer is doing work that aligns with their career interest.

THE PROJECT

Design, code, build, deliver, on to the next contract. Rinse and repeat. Are you tired of this typical contractor cycle and want something new? This program needs Software Developers who work differently - rather than the end deliverable being your software, your software is a tool you will use to collect data from the Internet and deliver that data to the customer as an Advanced Collection Engineer. If the software needs repairs or redesign, you'll have that opportunity. That's right, you will get to experience the full lifecycle of a software project and improve your cloud-native system design skills over time. The focus is doing whatever is possible to help our country and empower Analysts with new capabilities and better data sets. Accordingly, Engineers are given extensive autonomy in choosing

technologies and approaches to solve problems: if you think a new technology will get the job done better, you can investigate it.

This project uses COMMERCIAL unclassified AWS and Azure! Yes, that's right - in most cases when the cloud providers release a new tool or service, you'll have access to it right away to incorporate into your software! Additionally, this project uses multiple languages - Python and Javascript are the most prevalent, with some Java and BASH scripts sprinkled in as well. There's even a little bit of mobile CNO.

The Darkstar Group's Lead Engineer helped the customer found and grow this team from inception since 2014. Our company has the largest footprint on this team, and our folks are well-respected and appreciated by the customer's team. Speaking of which, the management team responsible for this program are some of the best people at the customer to work with - we are mostly shielded from outside politics!

Required Skills

Demonstrated experience leveraging a background in programming, software tools and packages, operating systems, and networking to solve collection needs in cloud environment

Demonstrated experience with the ability to listen and transcribe from mission need to technical requirements for Sponsor's consideration

Demonstrated experience with the ability to reflect back an understanding of the mission need described and convey how a technical solution will deliver mission results

Demonstrated experience prioritizing work based on mission need

Demonstrated experience documenting and communicating technical and non-technical mission requirements for all audiences

Demonstrated experience working with other technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries

Demonstrated experience with assessing project requirements and making informed recommendations

Demonstrated experience with Python

Demonstrated experience with Linux shell scripting

Demonstrated experience building Docker containers and images

Demonstrated experience with cloud services including Lambda Functions and Layers, S3, Batch, EC2, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, IAM Roles, DynamoDB, and Container service

Demonstrated experience using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar are not substitutes for CDK experience

Demonstrated experience transforming data in various file formats into common formats such as json, csv, or xml

Demonstrated experience working with application developers to identify and implement infrastructure and deployment requirements.

Desired Skills (Optional) Demonstrated experience with tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JADX, or APKtool.

Demonstrated experience with multiple cloud providers.

Demonstrated experience with other programming languages besides Python
