Job Description
Wood Mackenzie products serve many customers across the energy and natural resources sectors that depend on insight, data, and analytics products and services for decision making.
We are looking for a Vice President, Product Management to help lead our power & renewables product management team to execute product strategies for this critical business segment. You will lead the evolution of our approach to existing product offerings, building out scalable products and solutions that leverage common, reusable capabilities across long-term and short-term power markets, clean power and renewable technologies, and energy and power supply chains.
This leader will be acting as a partner and enabler across the business to embed consumer and customer insights into daily decision-making and product roadmaps.
About the role
You will build, lead, develop and drive a world class product management team who are responsible for product strategy and planning, delivering product enhancements, monitoring and transparently reporting progress, owning return on investments, and communicating with a large and varied stakeholder group. You will be responsible for:
Defining and implementing compelling solutions and capabilities that balance vertical market segment needs and the need for reusability and scalability, in close collaboration with vertical segment teams, senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
Developing and executing product strategy for the power & renewables business as part of the corporate Value Creation Plan .
Working with power & renewable research, sales, and marketing teams to drive market penetration while ensuring maximum incremental monetisation of new propositions and capabilities.
Recruiting new product talent to complement and complete and sustain the existing team.
Creating an environment which will deliver enduring success through a combination of culture creation, roll-out of necessary processes and governance, people and team coaching.
Creating a culture focused on solving customer/user business problems.
Collaborating and partnering with the engineering and data teams to ensure that there is a well-defined charter across product and engineering teams for the product group.
Creating an environment that fosters innovation and collaboration with all team members, where all individual activities contribute to the overall team outcomes in a ‘one team’ approach.
Delivering and managing an efficient global product portfolio. This will require full product life-cycle management, roadmap governance, prioritisation, and driving high quality decisions across multiple internal and 3rd product platforms through which we deliver insights to customers
Coordinating and streamlining the product roadmap input funnel and outbound communications and stakeholder management
Qualifications
About you and how you can excel in this role
You will be a self-starter, energised by a challenge, passionate about bringing great products to market, and love the thrill of creating a new standard for what’s possible.
You will be a contemporary, data-driven product leader with a successful track record managing within a modern product-led company with proven ability to define and communicate the product vision and strategy, preferably for an analytical platform. You will have:
Demonstrated experience managing and directing scalable, reusable product capabilities within a large, complex product portfolio, including direct experience with scaled data/analytics platforms, preferably with prior experience in power and clean energy space.
Experience creating and maintaining a portfolio level view of the product roadmaps, while championing longer term thinking and responsible for major trade-offs to achieve strategy and visions.
Advanced stakeholder communication skills, being able to bring them on board with your vision,
A deep understanding of customer and business value and the ability to make smart trade-offs and prioritisation decisions in a complex organisation.
Experience in working with senior commercial and go-to-market leaders to communicate, partner, and ensure clarity on product strategy, roadmap, and execution.
Agile, and iterative software product development expertise.
Outstanding oral and writing communication skills.
