Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives training and performs basic duties in several departments such as Sales, Operations, Inside Sales, Accounting, or Branch sales.
Learns line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints, and company policies and practices that affect each phase of business.
Sets performance goals and objectives with upper management.
Monitors performance progress with management and Human Resources representatives.
Observes experienced sales professionals to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of sales job responsibilities.
Receives training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide greater promotional opportunities.
Prepare proposals/quotes including product sizing, selection and pricing.
Interact with customers on a day-to-day basis providing technical, commercial, and general sales support.
Evaluate customer requirements and identify opportunities for expanding scope of products/services supplied.
Proactively follow up with customers on quotations
Attends company-sponsored training classes
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university, preferably in Engineering or Industrial Distribution, or industry related experience.
General knowledge of business, industry and sales knowledge learned through a specific degree program.
A combination of education and experience providing a basic framework and understanding of sales within our business and industry.
Experience/Skills:
Previous or Co-op experience directly related to the valve or process industry preferred.
Microsoft Word and Excel experience required. Order Processing, Inventory, Database software experience preferred.
Strong written and written communication skills.
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
