The role
As the first Senior Software Engineer, you’ll partner with the team to build the first production version of the igloo framework. I am looking for a full-stack engineer to help build the rust CLI, the open-source framework, and the infrastructure as a service platform. You will build and run a cloud infrastructure platform for running igloo. As this is still very early in the company's life and the framework, you will have opportunities to stretch all across the stack.

I am both a player and a coach for the team of engineers. I roll up my sleeves and care a lot about my craft. I am pragmatic, I spend my innovation chips deliberately and will encourage you to do the same. I love learning, and I am always eager to read on the latest trends and best practices. I firmly believe that engineering is a team sport; the best technical architectures and designs come out of tight collaborations between team members. I will challenge your designs, encourage you to hone your craft, expect you to ship code to production often, and eventually expect you to coach more junior engineers as the team grows.

As a senior engineer in the team, you will collaborate closely with the founders and the head of design as we get the company off the ground. This is a team of ambitious and pragmatic people who care about each other’s happiness. We all love the grind and the thrill of the early stages of a company. We come from different parts of the world and appreciate what each of our cultures and experiences brings to the table. Many of us are parents and hence build in flexibility to be there for our families. You can choose to leverage that flexibility in whichever ways work for you.
As we build the team, we will be joined by a couple of builders like you who are excited to tackle difficult challenges together and win as a team.
Responsibilities
Build, Maintain, and Operate the 514 platform and open-source project with the team
Review and contribute to other engineers' designs and code
Collaborate with Product and Design to make the product come to life
Participate in the recruitment process
Mentor more junior team members
Represent the company at industry events and conferences
Qualifications
Must haves:
Robust architectural and design skills
Good communication skills
Robust coding skills in either Typescript, Rust, Javascript, Scala, Java, or Python
Typescript Experience
Undaunted by a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Comfortable operating in ambiguity, building systems, and making sense of what others might consider chaos
