Software Engineer Games

Bellevue, WA, United States

Position Duties Responsible for researching, designing, and developing sophisticated systems for video game platforms and applications. Support the design of specialized software systems and applications to support our interaction design objectives focused on user interfaces and experiences. Develop software to facilitate user experience in cutting-edge technological media formats, including advanced video game consoles, PCs, and online gaming. Utilized in-depth knowledge of computer science and engineering and applied mathematics skills to drive next-generation features for software and 3-D graphics systems, known as 3-D engines, developed by Valve. Analyze software and hardware requirements of Valve products’ graphics, visual effects, and tool-time applications needs; formulate system testing procedures to ensure the quality and consistency of software systems developed by Valve. Collaborate with computer graphic artists, designers, and producers to ensure conformity with technical and aesthetic specifications. Work with object-oriented design and networking technologies for large-scale systems and gaming platforms that are elements for cutting-edge technological media formats, including advanced video game consoles, PCs, and online gaming.

Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or the foreign degree equivalent, and 10 years of experience working in the video game industry. Must also have at least 7 years of experience in the following:

Object-oriented programming utilizing C, C++, and/or C#;

Cross-platform experience including PC (Windows, Linux, or macOS);

Unreal or any custom engine;

Tool and runtime systems for computer games;

Runtime performance optimizations;

Software development in the video games or visual effects industry

Memory usage optimizations and tracking systems; and

Multi-threading and low-level SIMD optimizations.

Experience may be gained concurrently.

Salary range of $ 182,312 to $350,000 per year.
