Position Overview

As a Machine Learning Operations Engineer at Autodesk Research, you will be working side-by-side with world-class researchers and engineers doing fundamental and applied research that will help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world. You are a software engineer who is passionate about building things, and deploying solutions. You are excited to collaborate with our Research Scientists to perform experiments and deploy state-of-the-art generative AI algorithms. You are comfortable serving as a translator and straddling the gap between research & development.

The location of this role is flexible. We are a global team, located in London, San Francisco, Toronto, and remotely. Autodesk is a flexible hybrid-first company, allowing workers to work remotely, in an office, or a mix of both.

Reporting to: Senior Manager

Responsibilities

Configuring infrastructure to enable model training and hyperparameter tuning

Implementing scaling techniques for training large models

Optimizing the computational performance and data size of deployed large models

Supporting research through the construction of experimental pipelines, prototypes, and reusable code

Collaborating on research projects and papers with a diverse, global team of researchers and engineers

Minimum Qualifications

BSc or MSc in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience

2+ years of experience with deep learning and generative models

Experience with cloud services & architectures for deploying large models (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Experience with version controlling, reproducibility, and deploying machine learning models

Strong data modelling and data architecture skills

Proficiency with modern deep learning libraries and frameworks

Proficiency in coordinating, provisioning, and maintaining systems and compute infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications

Experience scaling ML training pipelines

Experience deploying large models

Experience with sync/async distributed methods for data/model parallelism

Experience working in large distributed systems

Multi-modal deep learning and/or information retrieval

Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries

Experience with Autodesk or similar products (CAD, CAE, CAM, etc.)

The Ideal Candidate

A Software Engineer with experience building and deploying robust machine learning systems

Familiar with implementing experimental pipelines and prototyping AI applications

Comfortable building prototypes from scratch and writing maintainable code within existing codebases

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $114,800 and $198,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
